Eye Tracker Eyemax
DynaVox Technologies
The DynaVox EyeMax System makes the eye tracking access method available to communicators who use the DynaVox Vmax. It is comprised of two parts: a DynaVox Vmax and a DynaVox EyeMax Accessory. The EyeMax System allows augmented communicators to access their Vmax with a simple blink, switch selection, or by dwelling on a desired area of the screen.

Who can use the system | |
Target users | The EyeMax System can be used by people of all ages and abilities with direct vision in one or both eyes. It provides freedom for limited head movement, so the system never needs to be manually focused. The EyeMax System can be used by individuals with Cerebral Palsy, ALS, spinal cord injuries and many other genetic and degenerative conditions, as well as those: * Seeking a faster access method than is available with scanning * Needing customization options * Wearing contact lenses or glasses * Using both eyes or a single eye * Functioning with a degree of controlled head movement |
What is required from the user | To have full control of the system, the user should be able to move their eyes enough to look up, down, left and right and have adequate vision to view the screen. The users must be able to gaze on all areas of the 12.1-inch Vmax display that is about 24 inches in front of the user’s eyes. The user must be able to focus on one spot for at least a brief period of time. People within certain spectrums of the following conditions have the ability to operate an EyeMax: ALS, MS, brain injury, people living with the effects of stroke, Cerebral Palsy, spinal cord injuries, and others. |
Can the system be operated entirely by the user without assistance once the system is setup and running? | Yes. Once initially set up, the EyeMax System can be operated entirely by the User: including any potential need for re-calibration (many times, only a single initial calibration is needed with no need for future calibrations). For User's that can access a single switch - the user independence includes being able to turn the device on The User can change settings, self-program the device, perform environmental controls, send/receive email, browse the internet, send/receive telephone or text messages, read eBooks, and many other functions. The system was designed to give the user complete independence. It comes set up with an audible alarm feature; and a remote alarm feature (such as sending email/text message or an automatic phone call) can also be added that only takes a single selection to activate. |
